Job Goal: The goal of this position is to assist Regular Education teachers to meet the needs of our students.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Monitors and adjusts activities to meet district and position needs. 
  2. Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
  3. Reads to students, listens to students read, and participates in other forms of oral communication with students.  
  4. Helps students master equipment or instructional materials assigned by the teacher. 
  5. Assists the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on a sympathetic understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities. 
  6. Guides independent student, enrichment work, and remedial work set up and assigned by the teacher. 
  7. Distributes and collects workbooks, papers, and other materials for instruction. 
  8. Assists with such large group activities as drill work, reading aloud, and storytelling. 
  9. Alerts the certified teacher to any problems or special information about an individual student. 
  10. Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of fully licensed teachers.  
  11. Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips. 
  12. Participates in in-service training programs, as assigned. 
  13. Assist with lunch & outside duties.
  14. Operates and cares for equipment used in the classrooms for instructional purposes. 
  15. Other duties may be assigned as needed.   

 

Qualifications / Certificates, Licenses, Registrations, Bonding, and or Testing Required:

  1. Associates Degree, preferred not required

Physical Demands: Between sitting, standing, and walking throughout the day lifting up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis and 10 pounds on a frequent basis, occasionally stooping, kneeling, crouching, overhead reaching and fine motor activity, frequently sitting, standing, walking, balancing, reaching at desk and floor level, firm and simple grasping. The work requires constant seeing, hearing, and talking.

Work Environment: Work is performed in an office, classroom and/or other educational setting.
