Job Goal: This position is the primary point of contact for student discipline by managing behavioral concerns, implementing school policies, procedures, and disciplinary practices consistently, and supporting restorative practices. The Assistant Principal also manages building safety, attendance, student achievement, and daily school operations to ensure a safe, effective, and respectful learning environment. This role works regularly with the school SRO, counselors, MTSS coordinator, and staff. They assist the principal by handling administrative tasks and other duties as assignedproviding instructional and organizational leadership as needed, supervising and managing personnel, conducting teacher evaluations, enforcing policies, and acting as a liaison between parents, students, staff and the communityensuring timely communicationThis position supports the school’s educational vision, goals, and objectives as well as the district’s mission and strategic initiativesmotivating competent instructional practices and modeling a service-oriented approach to administration.

  3. Advanced skills in dealing with students and staff with diverse needs at various levels. 
  4. Ability to be flexible and patient and adjust to changing priorities. 
  5. Ability to promote and follow the Board of Education policies, District policies, and building and department procedures, protocols, and guidelines. 
  6. Willingness to contribute to cultural diversity for educational enrichment. 

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities 

  1. Student Discipline, Behavior and Culture
    1. Enforce school rules; oversee discipline systems, restorative practices, and behavior interventions.
    2. Handle complex student conduct cases and parent conferences 
    3. Promote positive school climate and student engagement initiatives 

 

  1. Safety and Crisis Management
    1. Oversee day-to-day operations and campus safety protocols
    2. Lead emergency response planning, drils, and incident response
    3. Serce as a building leader during crises

 

  1. Instructional Leadership
    1. Support teachers with classroom management
    2. Support curriculum implementation and instructional best practices 
    3. Observe classrooms, provide feedback/coaching, and lead teacher evaluations 
    4.  Analyze student data to guide interventions and instructional planning 

 

  1. Operations and logistics
    1. Manage daily building operations (schedules, bell times, supervision, transportation, and school events)
    2. Coordinate facilities needs
    3. Oversee extracurriculars, clubs, and event logistics

 

  1. Family and community engagement
    1. Communicate with families, community partners, and external stakeholders
    2. Facilitate parent meetings, outreach, and partnership development
  1. Data, assessment, and accountability
    1. Monitor assessment results, attendance, and behavior data
    2. Support school improvement planning and progress monitoring
  1. Compliance and administrative tasks
    1. Ensure adherence to district, state, and federal policies (IEPs, special education, Title programs)
    2. Manage reporting, paperwork, schedules, and budget tracking as assigned 
  1. Other leadership tasks
    1. Act as principal in their absence and lead committees or initiatives
    2. Participate in hiring, onboarding, and performance conversations
    3. Duties and assignments may vary based on building assignment, academic year, and school needs.
    1. Staff Supervision and Development 
    2. Supervise, mentor, and evaluate teachers and support staff 
    3. Plan and deliver professional development and coaching cycles 
    4. Manage schedules, assignments, and substitute coverage 

 

Qualifications / Certificates, Licenses, Registrations, Bonding, and or Testing Required:

  1. Principal Endorsement
  2. Master’s degree in Education Administration, Curriculum Leadership, or related field.
  3. Colorado Teaching License
  4. At least one year of experience is preferred.
  5. Bilingual ability

Physical Demands: Between sitting, standing, and walking throughout the day, lifting up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis and 10 pounds on a frequent basis, occasionally stooping, kneeling, crouching, overhead reaching and fine motor activity, frequently sitting, standing, walking, balancing, reaching at desk and floor level, firm and simple grasping.  The work requires constant seeing, hearing and talking.

Work Environment: Work is performed under normal office conditions and there are minimal environmental risks or disagreeable conditions associated with the work. Work involves continuous contacts and interactions with the students, parents and the public.

Days / Terms of Employment: 178 Days / Nine-month position. Salary to be determined by the School Board of Education.
