Job Title:             Assistant Wrestling Coach
Reports to:         Athletic Director
Evaluated by:    Head Coach and Athletic Director

 

Job Goal: The Assistant Wrestling Coach is responsible to instruct in the fundamental skills, prepare and strategize on the needed training for competition, and foster individual growth as an individual athlete and as a teammate.

 

Essential Requirements:  To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to execute each requirement satisfactorily. The requirements list below are a representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability needed for the position.

  • Basic Knowledge of wrestling and has participated in wrestling.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and resolve conflict with students, parents, and community groups.
  • Ability to provide leadership and act with professionalism and integrity with school staff, students, parents, and community groups.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • The assistant coach is responsible for, and supervises all aspects of their level of the program with direction of the head coach.
  • Schedules and attends practice sessions, develops and implements individual/team training plans by the day, week, month, year as appropriate for their level in conjunction with the overall program goals/philosophy.
  • Complies with the rules and regulations as established by the Colorado High School Activities Association.
  • Monitors athlete’s attendance/behavioral/academic status.
  • Understands the signs and symptoms of concussion and removes players that are exhibiting signs and symptoms of concussion.
  • Models sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards students, officials, and spectators.
  • Ability to drive students in a school vehicle to and from competitions.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations, Bonding and/or Testing Required:

  • Successfully pass the CHSAA coaches test, acquire CHSAA coaching registration and complete a concussion course per State Legislation and CHSAA By-Laws.
  • CPR & AED Certifications required.

 

 

Physical Demands/Work Environment: Between sitting, standing, and walking throughout the day lifting up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis and 10 pounds on a frequent basis, occasionally stooping, kneeling, crouching, overhead reaching and fine motor activity, frequently sitting, standing, walking, balancing, reaching at desk and floor level, firm and simple grasping. The work requires constant seeing, hearing, and talking.

 

FSLA Status: Non-exempt
